What are Community
Food Projects?
The Community Food Projects (CFP) competitive grants program awards grants to eligible nonprofits, tribal organizations, and food program service providers to promote self-sufficiency and increase food security in low-income communities by developing comprehensive, community-based solutions. Projects vary in scope, ranging from community gardens with market stands to marketing and consumer cooperatives. Note that all CFPs must involve low-income participants.
How ISED can help your project
ISED can support the implementation of your CFP-funded project with (a) written materials and webinars; (b) participation in our partner Food System Leadership Network’s communities of practice; (c) annual meetings and conferences, and (d) with one-on-one assistance. We seek to be responsive to many of your needs but may direct you to NIFA for questions related to the technical aspects such as matching funds documentation, reporting, leadership changes, or financial management of your grant.

One-On-One Guidance
ISED offers direct support to individual projects throughout the year, via our staff, partners, and expert consultants. This is available via email, phone, online sessions, and, occasionally, via in-person meetings. This is where your specific priorities can be addressed.
Food Systems Leadership Network (FSLN)
Our partner, Wallace Center’s Food Systems Leadership Network (FSLN), is coordinating a community of practice for CFP grantees, grantsmanship webinars, and much more. It has an extensive database of webinars and resources. Click here for more information.
Community of Practice
(FSLN) is a national peer learning community that connects current and emerging leaders, strengthens individual and collective leadership capacity, and fosters collaboration across communities.
Conference
ISED is collaborating with FSLN to host a national community food systems conference, likely in early December 2024. Details and registration will become available by mid-year.
